Porcelain Raft is an indie pop solo project orchestrated by the Italian-born Brooklyn transplant, Mauro Remiddi. Remiddi’s music is both dreamy and aerial, infused with emotionally charged lyrics that balance his sound to create infectious compositions. Just this past month, he released his first full length record, Strange Weekend, and according to Remiddi it was written and recorded in only two months in a small Brooklyn basement.
So far, this has been my favorite album of 2012 – I strongly recommend giving it a listen. Tracks of note include: “Drifting In And Out,” “Backwards,” “Picture,” and “Shapeless.” Be sure to catch Porcelain Raft at Black Cat tonight with two of my other favorites at the moment, Bleached and the Smith Westerns.
