Led by siblings Robert and Rachel Kolar, He’s My Brother She’s My Sister is a glamorous folk-rock sextet from Los Angeles that are at the top my list for bands to watch in 2012. Their theatrical appearance pairs very comfortably with their eclectic sound, blending the soothing vocals of Robert and Rachel with an upright bassist, cello, slide guitar, kick drum, and a dazzling tap dancer on an amplified sound box. As seen in the live rendition of “How’m I Gonna Get Back Home Tonight,” the band’s energy is contagious and is meant to be experienced live. I was more than elated when I discovered that He’s My Brother She’s My Sister will be performing at DC9 on January 18th of next year. They will more than likely be showcasing some of their new material from their first full length album that is set for release in early 2012. If you enjoy folk or swing or just smiling in general this show is a must see. Be sure to keep up with the band on their Facebook and check out more material on their official website.
