Father John Misty – Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings

February 1, 2012

Do you like Aubrey Plaza? Of course you do. Do you like the Fleet Foxes? Of course you do. Then you’re guaranteed to like the new video from former Fleet Foxes drummer J. Tillman (performing under his new moniker, Father John Misty).  The Parks & Rec star creepily thrashes, rages, and gyrates (not to mention stares into your soul with her giant brown eyes) around over Tillman’s slice of Americana folk. Don’t mistake this for the soft crooning of his former band though – “Hollywood Forever Cemetary Songs” definitely has a stronger, edgier feel than the Seattle-based Foxes ever produced. It has a a harder drinking, harder partying, harder strumming vibe to the whole thing, and it’s much appreciated here. (Also, be sure to check out the only other released song from his new album, “I Would Love You.”)

The full album, Fear Fun, is due out on May 1st of this year on Sub Pop Records. No word on a tour yet, but you can check him out on his Tumblr, Facebook, and Twitter in the meantime.
