Remember last month’s “Three Artists, One Song” offering from Converse? “Do Ya Thing” featuring the legendary Gorillaz, Andre 3000, and James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem? Those guys look positively ancient compared to this month’s artists. Featuring the up-and-comers of Mark Foster (Foster the People), A-Trak (DJ and half of Duck Sauce), and Kimbra (quickly rising New Zealand singer-songwriter, best known for her duet with Gotye “Somebody That I Used To Know“), “Warrior” is an 80’s-inspired bit of pop (where even the unique vocals of Kimbra here seem to be channeling that decade’s best Madonna sound) that incorporates the unique sounds of all the artists involved in an almost perfect, impossibly catchy package. The video has the three fighting against… illegal Mexican wrestling crimelords? Don’t even ask, as the sugar pumping through your headphones will have you tapping your feet before you’re even worried about it. Hell, it’s almost the end of the day on a Friday – go ahead and unplug the headphones, turn the speakers up, and dance around your office before the weekend starts. That’s pretty much exactly what this kind of song was made for anyway.
(And be sure to go ahead and download the full song for free via Journeys’ Converse page. I guarantee that it’ll make your weekend better.)
