7. FSU "7. FSU"

Remember the first time you heard J Cole or Stat Quo on their early mixtapes? That mix of talent, youth, and hunger that just made you twist your head and say “oh damn”? Expect the same thing when you first hear Elliott McKnight. Mixing some of that southern flow (courtesy of his upbringing in Tallahassee, Florida) with the toughness of a young dude in the game, “FSU” will have you bobbing your head along with the horn-backed beat and Elliott’s quick-witted rhymes (and let’s be honest, any rapper that works ODB’s classic “you wanna look pretty doe in my video” into a song is great in my book). The track is off his mixtape The Beginning, available for free download here – definitely give it a full listen.

Having opened for acts such as Fat Trel and Dom Kennedy (as well as being named Howard University’s “Most Anticipated Artist”), McKnight seems to have a good future ahead of him. Head over to his website to read more. He has more tracks available on his Soundcloud and keeps everyone updated on his upcoming performances via his Twitter.
