Affectionately dubbed “New York City’s loudest band” from a variety of publications, both online and print, due to their loud and chaotic live shows, A Place To Bury Strangers did noise pop before noise pop was cool. After touring with bands like The Jesus and Mary Chain, Nine Inch Nails, The Big Pink, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, the band’s last full album release was 2009’s Exploding Head. It seems like they’ve spent the past three years hiding out in dark corners – their latest song, “You Are The One,” is absolutely laced with brooding bass, banshee guitars, and moody vocals that wouldn’t sound out of place on a 90’s goth rock record. They all combine for a serpentine track that creeps beneath your skin slowly before the guitars explode like a screaming jet engine taking off. After this, I can’t wait to hear their new album.
Speaking of the new album, Worship, it’s out on June 26. The band is currently on an international tour until at least this summer – but in the meantime, check out their official site and Facebook to see when they’ll be returning to our shores.
